7/30/2023 0 Comments Ring stick up cam![]() ![]() Ring has one additional official choice for people who are not satisfied with the included mount. Having said that, you can rotate the angle of your Stick-Up Cam using the articulated mounting arm, and move it around to find a slightly better recording ‘spot’ – which can help you achieve new angles whilst not impacting on motion detection nor recording performance. Third party mounting brackets and even the additional bracket would help you get upside down mountings without it sliding off, but the same basic problem remains – the camera can’t handle flipped footage, meaning any recordings (and possibly motion detection) would have issues. Plus, there’s no “lock” mechanism on the basic mount, meaning that the Ring Cam would probably slide straight off from it (if mounted upside down)! Even though the included mounting bracket could be screwed in upside down, the resulting recordings would also be upside down – and motion detection may not work fully either. By screwing the wall-mounted part in at an angle, you can then hang the Ring Stick-Up Cam at an angle too.īut what happens if you want to do something more drastic, like mount on a ceiling or roof? Can the Ring Stick-Up Camera Be Mounted Upside Down?Īs mentioned above, this camera has its orientation locked into position. Whether you are flipping the mount for aesthetic reasons, or you want to explore a home security coverage option with strict footprint requirements, flipping your view should be standard in today’s technology.Īnd thankfully it is possible to alter the angle a bit, using the built in mount that I explored earlier. The fact that this useful feature isn’t offered for the Ring Stick-Up Cam is a pity, since it might be a pretty major deal breaker for someone looking to get more security bang for their buck.īut what about simply changing the camera angle a bit, to capture different levels of detail? Since then, Miljenko and band-mates have showcased their broad influences and the raw strength of his vocals their sound drawing comparisons to hard rock and pop metal greats like Ratt and Whitesnake. SteelHeart’s self titled debut album ‘SteelHeart’ was released in 1990, bringing them almost immediate commercial success, with critics comparing their forceful hard rock sound to Led Zeppelin’s. ![]() Band ultimately changed name from “Red Alert” to “SteelHeart”. Within a month they had secured a new manager and a record deal with MCA. During his second year of college it dawned on him… “I was meant to be a singer”, so Miljenko promptly tossed his books out the second story window and focused all his time and energy on the band.Īfter completing a five song demo, Miljenko, Jimmy Ward and Miljenko’s friend John Belmont travelled to Los Angeles, with one thing in mind… to get a record deal. Right after high school Miljenko attended college to major in mechanical engineering. Jack was eventually replaced by John Fowler (Drums), Frank Di Costanzo (Rhythm) was added to form a five-piece. Miljenko, now sixteen years old, joined up with James Ward (Bassist), Chris Risola (Guitar), and Jack Wilkinson (Drums), “Red Alert” was formed. Miljenko was now equipped with studio and writing experience. He worked very closely with the leader of the band, Elliot Lewis, (who later became a member of “The Average White Band”). Miljenko joined a band called “The Mission”, at the age of fifteen. Despite much interest by producer Morgan Walker, “Teaser” fizzled out. When Miljenko was thirteen years old he formed a band name “Teaser”, playing covers tunes as well as original music. However at age eleven he was introduced to Led Zeppelin that is when his musical journey began to come alive. He joined a newly formed band named “Red Alert” in the 1980’s who later changed the name to “SteelHeart”. Miljenko knew in his early teens he wanted to be a rock star. He moved to America, with his family, at the young age of six, and began crafting his singing voice. James Wittke, who runs the meteorite laboratory at Northern Arizona University, said the scientists’ conclusions were reasonable. “We are probably looking at an object that was one of the first planets to circle the sun before they collided with each other to create the actual planets we have today,” said Gillet. ![]() ![]() They conclude that the diamonds formed with the specks inside them, deep beneath the surface of an unknown world. Writing in the journal Nature Communications, the Swiss team now describe fresh analyses that show that diamonds in the meteorite contain specks of an iron-sulphur compound that is thought only to form at pressures greater than 20 gigapascals. They speculated at the time that the meteorite might have come from a lost planet, but sought more evidence to bolster their theory. In 2015, researchers at the Swiss lab teamed up with Japanese scientists to argue that the diamonds in the Almahata Sitta meteorite, which are up to 100 micrometres long, were much larger than could be formed in collisions with other asteroids. Typical meteorite diamonds are only a few millionths of a millimetre across and are thought to form in collisions with other space rocks that send brief but intense shockwaves through the carbon-rich asteroids. While other meteorites are known to contain diamond crystals, they are generally far smaller. That suspicion grew when researchers noticed little diamonds in the meteorite material. The finding led some scientists to speculate that it may have had a more exotic origin. Photograph: Hillary SanctuaryĮarly inspections of the meteorite revealed it to be a ureilite, an unusual composition that does not match other space rocks known to have come from the moon or Mars. The event prompted a recovery effort by the University of Khartoum, which gathered 480 pieces of the meteorite amounting to 4kg of battered material.Ī piece of the Almahata Sitta meteorite. The Almahata Sitta meteorite was the first to be tracked by telescopes as it sped towards Earth and exploded over the Nubian desert in 2008. Philippe Gillet, a senior author on the study, said: “We are doing archaeology, looking into the past, and trying to decipher the story of the solar system.” “Simulations have suggested that the early solar system had tens of these embryonic planets that collided with each other to form the terrestrial planets, but having evidence of one of them? I wasn’t expecting that,” said Farhang Nabiei, who studied pieces of the meteorite at the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland. The material will give scientists a unique window into the cosmic conditions that prevailed in the deep history of the solar system. If the latest findings are confirmed, the Almahata Sitta meteorite will be the only known remnants of one of these long-lost planets. ![]() In this case, the mysterious world was calculated to be somewhere between Mercury and Mars in size.Īstronomers have long hypothesised that dozens of fledgling planets, ranging in size from the moon to Mars, formed in the first 10m years of the solar system and were broken apart and repackaged in violent collisions that ultimately created the terrestrial planets that orbit the sun today. ![]() 7/30/2023 0 Comments Subtitles disney plus![]() ![]() ![]() And also the cost of Disney plus Canada is different from Disney+ Hotstar. ![]() ![]() Tarantino is happiest going deep on the pictures he largely leaves himself unexamined. But it’s also bracing and heartfelt, positively ringing with life. As with his pictures, it’s garrulous, indulgent and in desperate need of an edit. I’m tempted to file Cinema Speculation as a paraphrased remake itself – an extended extrapolation of its author’s film-making day job. He says: “No fucking way was Travis in Vietnam.” Hilariously, Tarantino isn’t buying that either. Taxi Driver was at pains to paint its antihero Travis Bickle as a traumatised war veteran. Having convincingly established the film as essentially a “paraphrased remake” of John Ford’s western The Searchers, he can’t resist slamming what he regards as its compromised racial politics and accusing Martin Scorsese of hypocrisy for his pious stance on screen violence. Tarantino’s celebration of Taxi Driver, moreover, is very nearly a roast. He’s frequently at loggerheads with the films that he loves, all but browbeating the scriptwriter Walter Hill to rubber-stamp his issues with Sam Peckinpah’s 1972 movie The Getaway. “But I do know I should’ve thanked him.”Īs a critic, it transpires, Tarantino writes exactly as he speaks, in a torrent of information and opinions fuelled by breathless enthusiasm and unexplained grudges, rhetorical questions and full-throttle digressions. “I don’t know how died, where he died or where he’s buried,” he says. Jumping the points, he grants a standalone chapter to Floyd Ray Wilson, a flaky childhood mentor and wannabe screenwriter who planted the seed for 2012’s Django Unchained. Tarantino pays lavish tribute to John Flynn’s 1977 thriller Rolling Thunder (the film, he feels, that gave him permission to be a director) and Kevin Thomas (one-time second-string critic at the Los Angeles Times). Tarantino pays ‘lavish tribute’ to 1977 thriller Rolling Thunder, starring William Devane. True to form, Cinema Speculation conducts a personal joyride through his film education, veering from the recognised heavyweights of 1970s Hollywood ( Deliverance, Rocky, Dirty Harry) to a menagerie of scrappy unsung outsiders. Tarantino, endearingly, wears his on the outside, like a one-man Pompidou Centre with all the piping exposed. Some film-makers prefer to conceal their influences (“ I feel like the inventor of cinema,” said Werner Herzog). He’s the video-store geek who struck gold, the fanboy turned emperor. His book embodies its sliding-doors concept, almost to a fault.īut for a combination of talent and chutzpah, the director might have spent his days on the convention circuit himself. Or rather, he does until he doesn’t: until his focus shifts and his attention pivots and he promptly starts chasing a fresh train of thought. Tarantino likes looking under the bonnet and pulling at the fabric, showing how a film was put together and explaining how it could have gone other ways. It’s fascinated by the inexact science of movie production and promotion, the behind-the-scenes niggles that created the classics. Which brings us to the rollicking, ramshackle Cinema Speculation, Tarantino’s debut collection of film criticism, arriving hard on the heels of his novelisation of his 2019 film Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood. Tarantino likes looking under the bonnet and pulling at the fabric, showing how a film was put together Every film – great or small – carries the ghosts of the films that it might have been. Steve McQueen was nearly the Sundance Kid. Jeff Bridges almost starred in Taxi Driver. Indirectly, it reminds us that movies are serendipitous, defined as much by rewrites, casting coin-flips and crowd reaction as they are by any singular auteurist vision. While the part eventually went to Robert Forster, another B-movie mainstay, this casual aside hints at an alternative history, a parallel track. Midway through Cinema Speculation, Quentin Tarantino mentions Saxon as one of his early choices to play Max Cherry, the careworn bail bondsman in the 1997 film Jackie Brown. Had the road forked, it could all have been different. “I once made a movie with Marlon Brando,” he explained with a sigh. Saxon was in attendance thanks to his roles in Falcon Crest, Dynasty and The Six Million Dollar Man, but the indignity of the occasion showed on every line of his face. Parked at a table, the B-movie actor John Saxon signed souvenir headshots for £10 a time. S ome years ago, purely for work purposes, I visited a “cult TV convention” at a hotel in Solihull, where the fans at the bar were all dressed as Klingons and Peter Tork from the Monkees hosted an unruly pub quiz. ![]() ![]() These included veterans’ reports of hearing chemical alarms/donning Military-Ordered Protective Posture Level 4 (MOPP4) gear, pesticide use, and use of pyridostigmine bromide (PB) pills as prophylaxis against the effects of nerve agents.
